The History of CFM
Back in 1965 CFM Carpet & Upholstery Cleaners was known as Top Notch Building Maintenance. However by 1978 our growth brought about an addition to the name, which became Top Notch Building Maintenance & Carpet Cleaners.
At that time the original owners Herschal & Joy Winters moved to Vashon Island. Soon after moving to the Island Herschal started cleaning carpets on the Island exclusively. In 1979 Herschal's son, Sonny joined him here on the Island and worked with him cleaning carpets.
Around that time they decided that it was necessary to have a name that reflected the many years of actual job performance along with the many certifications the Company and personnel have received from different technicial classes taken. At that time the name they choose was CFM Carpet & Upholstery Cleaners.
Our experience and service has taken on a large range of cleaning from the Seattle Space Needle to large ocean sea vessels such as the Ice Breaker Polar Sea. We have cleaned carpets in private railroad cars, residential homes as well as large building complexes of over a million square feet.
Over time Herschal & Sonny continued to improve the quality of their work by taking many courses in Carpet Cleaning and other related fields. They both became certified by the Institute of Inspection of Cleaning and Restoration Certification organization or IICRC. They both have gained the level of Master Cleaners.
As the years went by Herschal decided to retire and so he sold the business to Sonny in October of 2001.
