Spotting Guide

Spots and stains occur no matter how careful we are. Described below are a list of stains and the appropriate action to remove them. Don't hesitate to call us with any questions. If these procedures do not solve your problem, you should call CFM Carpet & Upholstery Cleaners right away.

DO NOT attempt to remove the following stains.

Lipstick, rouges, nail polish, rust, dried mustard, furniture stains, candle wax.

These stains require special reagents or techniques to be used professional carpet cleaners only.

Oily Foodstuffs such as coffee, tea, mustard, soft drinks, beer, wine, vomit, urine and excrement.

Mix: I tablespoon mild carpet detergent; 1/3 cup white vinegar:

Remove excess material, absorbing liquids and scraping semisolids; apply solution; blot the carpet and gently brush pile; apply many layers of toweling over the affected area; weight down; leave until dry.

Starches, Sugars and foodstuffs such as egg, milk, blood, candy, ice cream, chocolate, sugar stains and Salad dressing.

Mix: I cup water; 2 tablespoons ammonia; 1-tablespoon mild carpet detergent:

Remove excess material, absorbing liquids and scraping semisolids; apply solution; blot the carpet and gently brush pile; apply many layers of toweling over affected area; weight down; leave until dry; When dry, apply a non-flammable dry cleaning solvent; dry the carpet and brush pile gently.

Heavy grease and oil such as gum, oil, tar, inks, wax, butter, grease, household cement.

Remove excess material; apply a non-flammable dry cleaning solvent; blot dry; brush pile gently.
